Monterrey quickly became one of the most industrialized cities in Mexico and Latin America. It brought many benefits and wealth to the population of this city, but just like how the increase in the steel factories brought many positives, it also brought many negatives, often overlooked. However, like many places with significant wealth, it faces disparities that have real consequences for different segments of the population. Some of these consequences include: inequality in the distribution of wealth, unsafe living spaces, environmental impact and pollution, water shortage, gender discrimination, etc.
I made sure the color reflected my theme. I had multiple combinations of colors, but ultimately I chose the first option. It showed not only a transition from greens to black, it was a transition from nature to the roughness of steel. It represents how nature is slowly dying with time and transforming into a new modern manufactured world.
Similarly, I wanted to make sure the patterns used in the brading technique, resembled common patterns seen in industrial environments, as well as those in nature. I quickly notice a trend of having more rigid, straight edges in the industry, while nature has a lot of repetitive, organic and curved lines. My goal is to combine both properties of these two opposite concepts and create a place where they both coexist, both hurting from each other but at the same time benefiting from each other.

For the idea of the souvenir, I think I could make a series of watches, where each one is carefully crafted to show a different consequence of industrialization. Each with their own patterns and color palettes. Some of the issues would involve gender inequality and violence, water shortage and resources, lack of appretiation, etc.
